Sign a message with Monero GUI & CLI
The Monero GUI (Advanced mode) has a Sign/verify tab for messages and files, and monero-wallet-cli has sign and verify commands. None of the exchanges KeyProof covers document Monero signing for Travel Rule checks, and KeyProof's verifier does not check Monero signatures yet.
Your keys never leave your wallet. Never paste your recovery words anywhere, including KeyProof. Signing a message is not a transaction.
Chains: Monero (XMR)
Signature format: Monero message signatures (SigV1/SigV2…). Monero signature verification is not supported in KeyProof yet.
Monero GUI[1]
- Switch the GUI to Advanced mode and open the Sign/verify tab.
- Under Sign, enter the message and click Sign. Copy the signature.
- To verify: paste the message, the signer's public address and the signature under Verify, then click Verify. A pop-up tells you whether it is valid.
Tips
- None of the exchange guides on KeyProof document Monero message signing for Travel Rule checks, and KeyProof's verifier does not check Monero signatures yet.[1]
