Swyftx: proving you own your self-custody wallet

Swyftx asks Travel Rule questions when you add a withdrawal address (personal wallet vs exchange, recipient name for exchange destinations) and may require screenshot proof that you control an external wallet before lifting transfer restrictions. Reviews are done via live chat or [email protected].

Never share your seed phrase or private key. Swyftx only needs a signature, a small test deposit or the details it asks for in its own app. Last checked 2026-10-27. Not legal advice.

When Swyftx asks

Where: Australia and New Zealand (AUSTRAC Travel Rule from 1 July 2026; NZ AML/CFT Travel Rule)

Threshold: Swyftx's Travel Rule articles describe collecting recipient details when you add a withdrawal address (once per address). Australia's AUSTRAC guidance does not set a minimum transfer amount for virtual-asset Travel Rule obligations. Screenshot-based external-wallet verification is requested as part of fraud/AML measures when Swyftx needs proof of control.

Accepted verification methods

MethodStatusDetails
Screenshot / screen recording of wallet + Swyftx profileAcceptedProvide a screenshot of the receiving wallet address and a screenshot showing the wallet is registered in your name, email or phone. If the wallet shows no name or email, screenshot the wallet open over your Swyftx profile on the same device. Desktop screenshots must include the full screen and task bar. MetaMask and Exodus examples are documented.[1]
Travel Rule address detailsAcceptedWhen adding a withdrawal address, say whether it is a personal wallet or another exchange. For exchange destinations provide the recipient's full legal name and destination exchange name. Deposits may ask for source-of-funds details. Swyftx uses Sumsub for Travel Rule processing.[2][3]
Message signingNot listedNot mentioned in Swyftx's verify-external-wallet or Travel Rule support articles we checked.[1][2]
Satoshi testNot listedNot mentioned in the Swyftx articles we checked.[1][2]
Swyftx doesn’t ask for a signature? If support follows up, a signed message from your wallet is stronger evidence of ownership than a checkbox or a screenshot. Check a signature free in your browser and keep a proof record. Nothing leaves your device.

Step by step

Verify an external wallet with screenshots[1]

  1. Open your Swyftx Profile (app: menu → Profile; desktop: Account settings → Information).
  2. In another window open the external wallet or platform and show the full receiving address.
  3. Capture both together (Android/iOS App Switcher or split windows; desktop: full screen including task bar with the wallet resized so the Swyftx profile remains visible).
  4. If the wallet has no name/email on screen, the dual screenshot with your Swyftx profile behind it is required.
  5. Send the screenshots via Swyftx live chat (paperclip) or email [email protected].
  6. Wait for Swyftx review (they say 1–2 business days). Once verified, transfer restrictions for that wallet are removed.

Travel Rule details when adding a withdrawal address[2][3]

  1. Add a new withdrawal address in Swyftx.
  2. Specify whether the address is a personal / self-custodial wallet or another cryptocurrency exchange.
  3. If sending to another exchange, provide the recipient's full legal name and the destination exchange name.
  4. Addresses added before Travel Rule go-live are prompted for these details on the next withdrawal to that address.
  5. For deposits, provide any source details Swyftx requests. Inaccurate information may delay or reject the transfer.

Travel Rule form error after submit

Swyftx says to contact support if you make a mistake after filling the Travel Rule form.[2]

For airdrops distributed by Swyftx enter "Swyftx" as sender. For external airdrops enter the full legal name of the company, project or token sponsor.[2]
