Phemex: proving you own your self-custody wallet
In regulated regions, Phemex asks whether a withdrawal or deposit goes to a private wallet or an exchange, and for the beneficiary’s legal name (plus other fields when required). Deposits without a Travel Rule message can stay locked until you supply sender details. Personal non-custodial addresses must be verified in regulated regions; third-party private wallets need the recipient’s full name. The public FAQ does not name message signing or a Satoshi test.
When Phemex asks
Where: Regulated regions where Phemex has rolled out Travel Rule measures (Phemex Help Center: gradual implementation by region).
Threshold: Phemex’s Travel Rule FAQ says VASPs must disclose customer data for crypto transfers above a certain amount, but it does not publish a single dollar/euro figure for end users. Requirements apply when you are in a regulated region.

Step by step
Withdraw to your private wallet[1]
- Start a withdrawal while logged into the Phemex entity that serves your regulated region.
- When prompted, choose private / non-custodial wallet (not an exchange account).
- Complete the personal-wallet verification step Phemex shows for that address in regulated regions.
- Provide your own legal name as beneficiary when asked; supply any supplementary fields the form requires.
Follow the live verification UI — the public FAQ requires verification but does not expand the mechanic. Open the verifier →
Withdraw to another exchange[1]
- Select the receiving exchange from the list. For your own account there, use that exchange name.
- If sending to someone else on an exchange, enter their name exactly as registered on that exchange.
- If the exchange is missing, choose Other and enter the exchange name plus the website URL so Phemex can establish a Travel Rule connection.
- Confirm the receiving entity is Travel Rule-ready; global brands may use different entities per region.
Unblock a deposit missing Travel Rule data[1]
- Open the pending/locked deposit in regulated regions.
- Provide the requested information about the person who initiated the transfer.
- Wait for Phemex to release the deposit after the details clear.
Common errors and fixes

Receiving exchange not in the list
Use Other with the official exchange name and website URL, or pick a Travel Rule-compliant entity for that brand.[1]
Deposit locked without Travel Rule message
Supply the originator details Phemex requests for regulated-region deposits.[1]
