Coinmerce: proving you own your self-custody wallet
Coinmerce verifies withdrawal addresses as hosted (another exchange) or unhosted (personal wallet). You can connect a wallet or upload an unedited screenshot showing the full address, confirm it is your personal wallet, and submit with 2FA. Message signing is instant when supported; screenshot review is manual.
When Coinmerce asks
Where: Netherlands / EU (DNB Sanctions Act screening; EU Travel Rule for CASPs from 30 December 2024)
Threshold: Coinmerce requires external withdrawal addresses to be verified before you can withdraw. Unhosted-wallet withdrawals must be to an address in your own name.
Accepted verification methods
| Method | Status | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Connect wallet / message signing | Accepted | Choose Connect wallet when offered. Coinmerce says verification is instant if you use message signing.[1][2] |
| Unedited screenshot | Accepted | If your wallet is not listed or you prefer manual proof, use "I prefer screenshot method", confirm "This is my personal wallet", upload an unedited image showing the full address, then confirm with 2FA. Cropped or redacted images are rejected.[1] |
| Hosted vs unhosted + owner details | Accepted | Select Hosted wallet (another exchange/broker) or Unhosted wallet (personal). For hosted third-party destinations supply the owner's full name. Unhosted withdrawals in another name are not allowed.[2] |
| Satoshi test | Not listed | Not described in Coinmerce's verify-external-wallet or Travel Rule articles we checked.[1][2] |

Step by step
Add and verify a withdrawal address[1]
- In the Coinmerce app open Account → Orders → Added addresses.
- Tap Add new address, select the coin and matching network, then Start verification.
- Acknowledge the Dutch-regulation notice and tap Verify.
- Choose Hosted wallet or Unhosted wallet.
- Connect the wallet if listed, or tap "I prefer screenshot method".
- For screenshots: tick "This is my personal wallet", upload an unedited image with the full address visible, tap Verify, then enter your 6-digit 2FA code.
- Wait for Coinmerce review if the screenshot path was used. Once approved, you can withdraw to that address.
Common errors and fixes
Screenshot rejected
Upload an unedited image. Cropped images or crossed-out text are rejected.[1]
XRP tag required
Coinmerce says a destination tag is mandatory for exchange accounts. For personal wallets without a tag, use "00000" in the tag field.[1]
Telegram wallets
Connecting Telegram wallets is not supported and their use is prohibited per Coinmerce.[1]
Coin cannot be withdrawn
Coinmerce lists some assets (for example ICP, APT, EGLD, ROSE at the time of their article) as unsupported for withdrawals, so verification for those addresses is impossible. Check Withdraw Fees & Status.[1]
FAQ
Do I re-verify after Travel Rule changes?
Coinmerce's Travel Rule article said verified withdrawal addresses would be deleted in May and must be re-verified before sending crypto again. Follow any in-app notice for your account.
Can I withdraw to an unhosted wallet not in my name?
No. Coinmerce says unhosted withdrawals are only allowed in your own name.
Is message signing faster than a screenshot?
Yes. Coinmerce says message signing is instant; screenshot verification needs manual review.
