CoinCorner: proving you own your self-custody wallet
On withdraw, CoinCorner decides behind the scenes whether the destination is another regulated exchange or a private unhosted wallet. Exchange destinations need beneficiary name/account details (and CoinCorner transmits originator name, address and account). Unhosted wallets may proceed with no extra inputs if the risk profile is low, or show a pop-up for recipient name and transaction details if not.
When CoinCorner asks
Where: Isle of Man / UK-facing Bitcoin exchange implementing FATF Travel Rule data sharing for VASP-to-VASP transfers.
Threshold: CoinCorner does not publish a single euro/GBP figure for unhosted wallets. Unhosted (private) wallet transfers use a risk-based approach: extra recipient details only when CoinCorner’s risk assessment asks for them. VASP-to-VASP transfers always collect/transmit originator and beneficiary details.
Accepted verification methods
| Method | Status | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Recipient / Travel Rule details | Accepted | VASP destinations: provide the beneficiary’s full name and account number; CoinCorner also transmits the originator’s full name, residential address and account number. Unhosted destinations: provide recipient name and transaction details only when the on-screen risk prompt appears.[1] |

Step by step
Withdraw to another exchange (VASP)[1]
- Start a cryptocurrency withdrawal as usual.
- If a pop-up requests recipient information, enter the beneficiary’s full name and account number carefully.
- CoinCorner says the name is checked against data returned by the receiving platform. On a mismatch the send fails, no funds leave, and you are asked to correct the details and try again.
Withdraw to a private / unhosted wallet[1]
- Paste your hardware or mobile wallet address and continue.
- If CoinCorner’s risk assessment is low, the transfer may proceed without further inputs.
- If prompted, enter the recipient’s name and any transaction details shown, then authorise the send.
CoinCorner’s article does not describe a signature or Satoshi ownership test — follow whatever the live prompt shows. Open the verifier →
Common errors and fixes
Transaction failed — recipient name mismatch
For VASP destinations CoinCorner verifies the name you typed against the receiving platform. Double-check the recipient’s legal name and account details, then retry. No funds leave on a failed match.[1]
Pop-up asking for more details on my own wallet
Unhosted transfers are risk-based. Provide the recipient name/details when asked so the withdrawal can be authorised.[1]
FAQ
Will every send to my Ledger need extra forms?
Not always. CoinCorner says unhosted transfers use a risk-based approach and low-risk sends may proceed without further inputs.
What if the recipient name is wrong?
For VASP destinations CoinCorner says a name mismatch fails the send with no funds leaving. Correct the details and try again.
Is my data shared publicly?
CoinCorner says its data-sharing solution is built to be secure, instantaneous and GDPR compliant, sharing required details with the counterparty VASP.
