BTC Markets: proving you own your self-custody wallet

For withdrawals, BTC Markets asks whether the recipient is an Individual or Non-Individual and for their full legal name. Withdrawals to self-hosted wallets continue as usual after that. Deposits from personal wallets may be held until you submit sender details in the web-only "Pending Sender Details" form. Once confirmed, future deposits from the same address need not repeat the check. No Satoshi test or message signing is described.

Never share your seed phrase or private key. BTC Markets only needs a signature, a small test deposit or the details it asks for in its own app. Last checked 2026-10-27. Not legal advice.

BTC Markets doesn’t ask for a signature? If support follows up, a signed message from your wallet is stronger evidence of ownership than a checkbox or a screenshot. Check a signature free in your browser and keep a proof record. Nothing leaves your device.

Step by step

Withdraw to your self-hosted wallet[1]

  1. Start a crypto withdrawal as usual.
  2. When asked for beneficiary details, choose Individual and enter your full legal name (it is your own wallet).
  3. Submit. BTC Markets says withdrawals to self-hosted wallets continue to be processed as usual after you provide the beneficiary details.

BTC Markets says it is building an address book that saves Travel Rule details per address, so saved wallets will not need the details re-entered once it is live. Open the verifier →

Deposit held for "Pending Sender Details"[2]

  1. Log in on the web (the form is not in the mobile app yet). BTC Markets will not link to the form from its email, to reduce phishing risk.
  2. Classic platform: go to Deposits and check your recent deposits at the top of the page.
  3. New platform: go to Deposits, select Crypto, and you will be sent to the Classic Deposit page.
  4. Click the "Pending Sender Details" status on the deposit and complete the form.

Common errors and fixes

Transfer rejected under the Travel Rule

Check the details are complete and match the legal name on record. BTC Markets says even a short name ("Dave" instead of "David") can cause a rejection. Other causes include the other platform not responding. Contact support if details look right.[3]

Rejected withdrawal: where are my funds?

BTC Markets says funds are in most cases credited back to your account once checks finish; some withdrawals are held for manual review.[3]

Deposit cannot be completed

Where possible, BTC Markets returns funds to the sending wallet within 10 business days. It cannot return transfers below $10.00, and a refund fee may apply.[3]

FAQ

Can I still withdraw to Ledger, Trezor or another personal wallet?

Yes. BTC Markets says withdrawals to self-hosted wallets continue as usual after you give the beneficiary details.

Will I be asked every time I deposit from my wallet?

BTC Markets says once the required information is confirmed, future deposits from the same address need not go through the check again.

Why can't I find the form in the app?

BTC Markets says the sender-details form is currently only available in a web browser, not the mobile app.
