bitbank: proving you own your self-custody wallet

Register every crypto withdrawal address with remittance type (listed exchange/service, Other, or Private wallet), recipient (self vs not), recipient address, and purpose before withdrawing. Private wallets (MetaMask, Ledger, etc.) are explicitly allowed. Applications are reviewed; approval arrives by email. Existing addresses may show “Additional fields are required” until Travel Rule fields are completed.

Never share your seed phrase or private key. bitbank only needs a signature, a small test deposit or the details it asks for in its own app. Last checked 2026-10-27. Not legal advice.
Based on bitbank English address-registration article (updated Oct 15, 2026) and Japanese Travel Rule FAQ (updated Oct 12, 2026). Follow live bitbank UI labels.

When bitbank asks

Where: Japan (bitbank, Inc.). Travel Rule destination registration for crypto withdrawals; JPY unaffected.

Threshold: bitbank’s Travel Rule FAQ does not publish a yen/euro ownership-proof threshold. Since 2022-04-01, additional beneficiary fields are required when adding withdrawal addresses; since 2022-09-29 recipient address and withdrawal purpose are also required. From 2025-07-31, only listed VASPs appear under Exchanges/Services — unlisted VASPs cannot be direct destinations.

bitbank doesn’t ask for a signature? If support follows up, a signed message from your wallet is stronger evidence of ownership than a checkbox or a screenshot. Check a signature free in your browser and keep a proof record. Nothing leaves your device.

Step by step

Add a private-wallet withdrawal address[1]

  1. Open the asset’s Withdrawal page → Add Address → Add New.
  2. Enter a label and the exact blockchain address.
  3. Set Remittance address type to Private wallet (no extra payee-name field for that option).
  4. Choose Recipient = yourself and confirm the displayed name/furigana, or Not yourself and complete individual/corporation/unknown fields.
  5. Confirm recipient address (your registered address if self; otherwise enter theirs — ask them if unknown). Enter 0000000 if no zip code exists.
  6. Select purpose of withdrawal (and detail lists when Investment/management or Payment). Confirm → Add, then pass 2FA/SMS if prompted.
  7. Wait for the review result email before requesting the withdrawal.

Send to a listed VASP only[2]

  1. Choose Exchanges/Services and pick a VASP from bitbank’s allowed list (unlisted VASPs are not selectable since 2025-07-31).
  2. Complete recipient and address fields accurately — bitbank says enter the recipient’s address, not the exchange’s office address.
  3. Apply for withdrawal only after the address is approved.

Common errors and fixes

“Additional fields are required” on an old address

Open the withdrawal flow’s continue/edit path and register the missing Travel Rule fields (recipient, address, purpose). Addresses without them cannot be used.[2]

Desired exchange missing from the list

bitbank only allows direct send to VASPs listed in its allowed-VASP FAQ. Unlisted VASPs are not available even if previously registered.[2]

JPY deposit/withdrawal concerns

bitbank says Travel Rule affects crypto withdrawals; Japanese yen deposits and withdrawals remain as before.[2]

FAQ

Can I withdraw to MetaMask or Ledger?

Yes. bitbank’s Travel Rule FAQ says private-wallet deposits and withdrawals are possible — select Private wallet as the destination type.

Whose address do I enter?

The recipient person’s (or corporation’s) address — not the destination exchange’s office address.

When can I withdraw after adding an address?

After bitbank emails that the registration review is approved.
